参加者同士がすぐに仲良しになってしまうというユニークな旅行会社として紹介したDDT (Dancin’ Doug Travel)踊るダグラスが超ディープなエジプト（アフリカ）・ツアーを敢行！
エジプトは黒人にとっては心の故郷、「一生のうちに一度は訪れたい国」なのだそうです。でもこのエジプト・ツアー、「踊るダグラス」だけに普通のツアーではありません。ピラミッド観光やラクダに乗ったりだけではなく、現地のエジプト学の教授がガイドをつとめるという特別待遇、おかげさまで誰も知らなかったディープなアフリカの歴史を学ぶチャンスに恵まれたそう。かと思えばナイル川クルーズでは美人ベリー・ダンサーをはべらし大パーティではじけまくり、さらにはエジプト国務大臣と会見、地元のテレビや新聞で「アメリカからヌービアン一行がエジプト訪問！」と報道され、凄い騒ぎになってしまったのだとか……。

団長で私の友人でもあるDDTの社長、ダグラス ”Dancin’ Doug”コロンから、「こんなファンキーなツアーなんてあり？」とびっくりのエジプト旅行記が届きましたのでさっそく紹介しましょう。

目的地に到着！飛行機を降りてさっそく出発。まずはエジプト・ミュージアムに直行、それからサラディン要塞、モハメッド・アリ寺院（同胞のモハメッド・アリと混同しないように）を見学。第一班は8：45発の夜行列車にてアスワンに出発、僕は第二班が到着する土曜日までここで待機。お陰さまで順調にいっています。みなさん祈ってくれてありがとうございます。Douginess
2日目 カイロでのひとりごと。さてこの日はエジプトの現地コーディネーターのKawtharと打ち合わせ。今後、DDTの国際化に向けて発展していく予定なのでよろしく。そのあと、ツアー・オペレーターとヘリオポリスのシーフード・レストランにて食事をしました。まずはシーフード・スープから始まります。といってもこれだけで立派な食事といえるくらいのボリュームでびっくり。お次はカラマリ、そしてバーボーニ(Borboni)という小魚のフライとマレット(Mallet)という大きな魚が運ばれてきました。それも、ジャンボ・シュリンプのグリル添え。おもしろいのは、バーボーニは味が海老にそっくりなこと。ここの人たちは海老ばかり食べているようです。もちろん、美味しいことはいうまでもありません。最後にお茶を飲んでごちそうさま！さらに6種類の果物と木の実が入ったナチュラル・ジュースを飲みに立ち寄ったあとドライバーがホテルまで車で送ってくれました。「エジプトは僕好み（木の実）です。」（笑）。明日は第2班が到着します。All Praises To God!! 3日目 カイロでのひとりごと。夕べは一睡もできず…..！まじで、思い切り時差ぼけしてます。第2班の出迎えで空港に行き、カイロ・ミュージアムに直行。今回のツアーではカイロ・ミュージアムのキュレーターでエジプト学専門の教授がわれわれのガイドとしてついてくれました。（DDT でかしたぞ!）素晴らしいガイドに大感謝！このツアーはすでに2度体験していますが、まさに目から鱗、とても勉強になりました。ミュージアムのあとは「クレオパトラ・レストラン」で食事です。おいしいエジプト料理をいただきました。参加者のみなさまをホテルにチェックインして、明日はギザのピラミッド，サッカラ、そして史上初の街、メンフィス観光に行きます。メンフィスといってもあのテネシー州の「エルヴィスの股間シェイク」のアレとは違いますよ（笑）。
4日目＆5日目 カイロでのひとりごと。昨日は三大ピラミッドを見ました。今日はサッカラにある最古のピラミッドを観光（グレート・ピラミッドよりさらに400年以上も古いピラミッド）しました。スフィンクスを見て、それからラクダに乗ってピラミッドのまわりを回ります。そのあとは食事をして、僕のママとコンラッド・ベネットの婚約者、セシリアの誕生パーティーをしました。レストランで2つのケーキを用意してくれました。

今日は最高!! キングとクィーンの丘に行きました。それから、エジプトの内務大臣（アメリカの国務長官にあたる）とエジプトのお偉方と会見、エジプトのテレビや新聞に取材されました!! いやぁ、凄かったです!! 「アメリカ人にとってエジプトはとても安全で楽しい国だ。」ということを広めたかったようです。「その通り。めちゃくちゃ楽しい国です。」と僕は答えました。DDT参上! さらに派手に展開していくのでお楽しみに! Douginess

6日目 カイロでのひとりごと。ショッピング・タイム。ツアーのみなさんがお土産用のカルトゥーシュクというジュエリーに自分の名前を刻んでもらっている間、たまたまインターネット・カフェをみつけたのでタイプしています。今回の旅行はほんとうに素晴らしいです。ガイドさんがものすごく知識豊富で熱心な人だったのでいろいろ丁寧に説明してくれて、まるで初めてエジプトに来たような気持ちになりました。あ、言い忘れましたが、昨日は世界最古の街、メンフィスを訪れたんですよ。それから、キングとクィーンの丘のあと、グランド・コロッシ、アラバスター工場を訪れました。カルナック神殿、ルクソールにも行きました。今夜はナイル川クルーズ、エドフへ出発します。みなさん、お友達、家族、子供たちをぜひ呼んでこの素晴らしい景色を見せてあげて下さい。まじで、人生観が変わりますよ。Douginess

7日目＆8日目 カイロでのひとりごと。昨日カルナック神殿とルクソールに行きました。それからエトナのホルス神殿を見てきましたがとても美しくて感動しました。昨晩はクルーズの船上でパーティーがありました(Very Nice)。さらに、モーター・ボートでアスワン・ハイ・ダム、フィラ島、まで行ってイシス神殿と切りかけのオベリスク（DCにあるオベリスクはこれをモデルにしている）を観光しました。それから帆船で植物園に行き、エレファンタイル島に立ち寄りナイル川の周辺をクルーズして戻ります。今夜もまたパーティーがあります。明日はヌービアン・ビレッジに出発、それから明日の夜にカイロに戻ります。今回使った現地の業者は予想をはるかに上回る素晴らしい旅を提供してくれました。前の旅行とは比べ物にならないくらい、大正解でした! 9日目 カイロでのひとりごと。やっと少し休憩! !ここに到着してからずっとノンストップで走り回っていました。初回のツアーにはなかった見所を６箇所も追加。昨夜はベリー・ダンサーの方たちのショーでたっぷり楽しませてもらいました。グループの約半数がヌービアン・ビレッジ観光に行きました。（ペット用の鰐がいるそうです。）半分の人しか戻ってこなかったらどうしよう??（笑）グループの残りの人たちはくつろいでいるようです。船の窓は床から天井まであってそこからのぞむナイルの眺めはまさに絶景です。今日の夕方カイロに戻り、第3班と合流します。残りのグループはモハメッド・アリ寺院とサラディン要塞を見学します。またエジプト・ツアーを開催するので今回のがした人は是非ご参加下さい。

Cairo Monologues – By Douglas Colon
WE ARE HERE!! We landed and hit the ground running. We toured the Egyptian Museum, Saladin’s Citadel and the Mosque of Mohamad Ali (not to be confused with our Muhammad Ali) LOL. I sent the first group down to Aswan on the sleeper train about 8:45….now I wait til Saturday for the second group….we NEVER stop the Grind! Thanx for all the prayers!–Douginess.
Day 2 of the Cairo Monologues: I had an all day meeting with my Egyptian Sales Coordinator Kawthar on getting DDT WORLDWIDE moving again. We later met with the Tour Operator to have a Seafood dinner in Heliopolis. We started with a Seafood Soup that could have been a meal by itself. We then had Calamari and then had a platter of tiny fried fish called Borboni (Bur-boney) and Another big fish called Mallet. This with a platter of Grilled Giant Prawns. The interesting thing is the Burboni tastes like shrimp, because that’s all they eat. Needless to say it was Delicious! We finished with tea and then my driver drove me back to the hotel…after he stopped for a glass of natural fruit juice made with 6 fruits and dates! “Egypt has been Berry Berry Good to Me”. LOL Tomorrow the second group arrives and we get back to the DDT Business at hand. ALL PRAISES TO GOD!!

Day 3 of the Cairo Monologues: Couldn’t sleep last night! The jet lag kicked in BIG TIME!
Went to meet the second group at the Airport and went straight to the Cairo Museum. This time we had the Head Egyptology Professor and Curator of the Cairo Museum as our Guide (DDT GOT CHEESE!) He was phenomenal!! I have done this Tour twice already and this was head and shoulders better than both of the others combined. We then went to the Cleopatra Restaurant for some Delicious Egyptian Food. I just got everyone checked into their rooms and we leave tomorrow to start the visits to the Pyramids at Giza, the Saqqara and the City of Memphis–the first City in History, not the one of “shake your Pelvis Elvis Fame” in Tennessee. LOL
Day 4 And 5 of the Cairo Monologues: Yesterday we did the 3 Pyramids and then we went to visit the Oldest Pyramid at Saqqara (older than the Great Pyramids by 400 years.) We also visited the Sphinx and everyone took Camel Rides around the Pyramids. We then went to eat and celebrated the Birthdays of my Mother and Cecilia, Conrad Bennett‘s Fiancee. They had 2 cakes for us.
TODAY was even Better!! We went to the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens and the Minister of the Interior (their equivalent of our Secretary of State) for the Country of Egypt and all the Egyptian Dignitaries came to meet us there and it was covered by the TV and Newspapers of Egypt!! It was Crazy!! They wanted to show that Americans are safe in Egypt and having a good time and I said we are having a GREAT time!

Day 6 of the Cairo Monologues and I am rushing to type as the people are shopping for personalized Cartouches and I found an Internet Cafe. This has been a WONDERFUL experience. It feels like my first time here because the Guide is so knowledgeable and engaging!!! I forgot to mention yesterday that we visited the City of Memphis–which was the FIRST City in History. We also did the Grand Collossi and an Alabaster Factory after the Valleys of the Kings and Queens. Today we did the Temples of Karnak and Luxor. We start our Nile Cruise tonight to sail to Edfu.
EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE THESE REMARKABLE SITES! AND BRING YOUR CHILDREN–It will change the way you see yourself!! –Douginess
Days 7 and 8 of the Cairo Monologues: We went to the Temples of Karnak and Luxor yesterday. BEAUTIFUL…and then to the Temple of Horus in Etna. Then we had a Party on the Cruise Ship last night (VERY NICE!!) We went to the High Dam, Island of Phila by Motorboat to see the Temple of Isis and the unfinished Obelisk (The monument that the Washington Monument in DC is modeled after). We then went to the Botanical Gardens by a Flotilla Boat and cruised around the Nile to Elephantile Island and back. Another Party tonight and then we head to the Nubian Village tomorrow and back to Cairo tomorrow night. This new company has given us a trip WAAAAAY BEYOND my expectations and it doesn’t even compare to the other trip!!—Douginess.
Day 9 of the Cairo Monologues: Finally some rest!! We have been going NON-STOP since we arrived. There are 6 Additional Sites on this Tour that wasn’t on my first Tour. Last Night we had the Belly Dancers do an Exhibit. Half of the Group went to visit the “Nubian Village” (They have Pet Crocodiles there!). Maybe only half may return?? LOL The other half are just relaxing. We have Ceiling to Floor windows on the Ship and you can just look out onto the activity on the Nile–ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! We head back to Cairo this evening where I will meet the 3rd Group and the rest of the Group will tour the Mosque of Mohammed Ali and the Citidel of Saladdin. Whatever you do–DON’T MISS THIS TRIP WHEN WE DO IT AGAIN!!—
