一度見たら忘れられないマックスウェル・ライブツアー

ライブの素晴らしさに定評があるグラミー賞受賞R＆Bスターのマックスウェルが「マックスウェル・トゥー・ナイト – M2N Tour 2012」を開催。11人編成のバンドを引き連れ、3カ所、各2日(Two Nights)の合計6回公演を行うことになりました。日程は、ロサンジェルスのステープル・センターが7月20日、21日、アトランタのフィリップス・アリーナが7月27日、28日、そしてNJのニューアークのプルーデンシャル・センターが8月3日、4日です。ライヴ内容は1日目がファースト・アルバム「Urban Hang Suite」及び、セカンド・アルバム「Embrya」からの全曲を披露、2日目にサード・アルバム「Now」、4枚目アルバム「 BLACKsummer’snight」よりの全曲を披露するという趣旨なのだそう。また、未発表曲も歌ってくれる予定だとか。ツアーの収益の一部は秋に行われるオバマ/ジョー・バイデン再選支援に充てられるそうです。もう一度あの世界にどっぷり浸りたい人、まだマックスウェル体験をしていない方は是非この機会をお見逃しなく。チケットは48ドルより。

Grammy winning R&B star Maxwell announced that he and his 11 piece band will embark on a 6 day tour, MaxwellTwoNight -M2N tour 2012 – two nights in three cities, scheduled for the cities of Los Angeles, CA – Staples Center, (July 20 and July 21); Atlanta, GA – Phillips Arena (July 27 and July 28) and Newark, NJ at the Prudential Center (August 3 and August 4). Maxwell will perform his discography in its entirety. The first day of the tour Maxwell will perform songs from his first album “Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite” and second album “Embrya”. The second day of the tour Maxwell will perform from his third and fourth albums “Now” and “BLACKsummer’snight” respectively. Maxwell will be debuting never performed songs from his BLACKsummer’snight trilogy. lt was also announced that proceeds from the M2N tour merchandise will support the “Obama-Biden 2012” re-election campaign.

キスFM とWBLS　突如合併！

ずっとライバル同士で鎬を削ってきたニューヨークのブラックFMステーション、 KISS FM と WBLS が突如合併することになりました。NYのブラック・コミュニティーと共に歩んできたこの２つのFMステーションが１つになってしまうなんて…….。

今後はキスの98.7は、キスを買収する形となったWBLS107.5に移行

98.7は売却先のディズニー系列のESPNが引継ぎ、スポーツ番組中心の局としてあらたに始動を開始するとのことです。

その影響で、キスの音楽フォーマットは同系列会社のホット97に一部受け継がれるとのことです。つまり、ヒップホップ一色だったホット97でも積極的にR&Bやソウル・クラシックスをかけていくことになりそうです。

この合併によって、両局の番組を整理することになり、 WBLS FMのキース・スウェットの番組，｢クワィエット・ストーム｣が姿を消すことになります。このまま残るのは、 WBLS の看板番組、「スティーヴ・ハーヴィー・ショー」、キス FM の夕方のソウル・クラシック番組、「レニー・グリーン・ショー」など。

４月３０日ミッドナイトよりキスは WBLSと統合され、 WBLS107.5にて放送を続けることになっています。今週末は「Farewell to Kiss FM」として30年間にわたるキスの歴史を振り返り、周波数98.7最後の番組をお届けしています。

98.7 KISS-FM Is No More…..!New York Radio Rivals Kiss-FM and WBLS to Merge

In a stunning change for New York radio listeners, Kiss-FM and WBLS — longtime rivals in the R&B format — have become one.

This merger came as a complete surprise.

The two stations began simulcasting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, and through the weekend are scheduled to celebrate the three-decade legacy of Kiss (WRKS, 98.7 FM), a bastion of black music that has been one of the most highly rated stations in the market.

At midnight on Monday, the stations will merge on WBLS (107.5 FM), according to a joint announcement made Thursday. Shaila, Kiss’s midday personality, and its nighttime disk jockey, Lenny Green, will join WBLS.

Emmis has sold WRKS’s intellectual property to WBLS’s new parent, YMF Media.

The merger is part of a complicated shuffle involving three broadcasters. Disney obtained a long-term lease for 98.7 FM from Emmis, and will bring its ESPN sports franchise — currently at 1050 AM — to that frequency on Monday.

The companies behind WRKS and WBLS have both had financial difficulties. Emmis, burdened with debt, has sold several stations over the last year, including 101.9 FM in New York, which is now a news station, WEMP. WBLS was recently taken over by YMF after its former owner, Inner City Broadcasting, declared bankruptcy.
