1. Ball Drop – Fabolous & French Montana

渋いホーンのサンプリングがちょっと懐かしい感じのするトラックですが、その反面French Montanaのいつもの調子のラップに最近なかなかまた人気のベテラン・ラッパー Fabolous。かれももうかなりの年齢なはずなのに、見た目はデビュー当時と変わらない風貌。(今調べたら 38歳。本当か？だいたいみんな5歳はサバよんでそうだが) 前回話した様に Pharellと同様、年取らない系です。Jay Zも凄い年なのにかなり若い。おじさんぽい見た目なら、今時ラッパーとのコラボのオファー来ないかもですよね..。この曲は断然Hip Hopオンリーのクラブで大人気。

Fab and French teamed up for “Ball Drop” featuring a familiar horn sampling. Fab has been in the game for the longest but he looks exactly the same since the first time he came to the scene. According to his bio he is 38, really? Maybe he’s lying his age, I don’t know but he definitely belongs to Pharrell’s never-age-club. Same thing with Jay-Z, he’s forever young. If you look too old you better not expect any offers to collaborate with young rappers. “Ball Drop” is the party anthem at clubs exclusively playing Hip-Hop.

2. Rihanna – B#tch Better Have My Money

新しくでるRihannaのアルバムからの一曲。かなりゆっくり目の曲で、ちょっとレゲエテイストも入ってるような..確実に黒人のお姉さん達におおいに支持されそうな一曲の予感です。だいたいパーティーでそういうお姉さんの団体が入って来てつまらなそうにしてたら、Rihanna、BeyonceかCiaraをメドレーでかけてみればご機嫌にできます。

A trap song with a hip hop beat and a reggae flavor from Rihanna’s new album will surely be embraced by black girls. The best way to make a group of bored ladies on the floor is to play songs by Rihanna, Beyonce and Ciara back to back. You can make them smile.

3. Slow Motion – Trey Songz

いいですねー、なんか懐かしい感じの正統派スロー・ジャム、セクシー系です。前で言うとまさに Genuwine 系のバラードです。最近あまりなかったような気がするんで嬉しいです。この曲、なぜかお兄さん達からやけにリクエスト来ます。普通お姉さんからのはずなのに。Trey Songzって地道に人気凄いです。

Trey Songz’ classic slow jam reminisces smooth ballads of 90’s R&B singer Genuwine. Nice and sexy. It’s like the situation is reversed mostly guys who request for this song, not ladies…….why? Because he is Trey Songz!

1- 6 Man – Drake

Drakeのニューアルバムは出たばかり。何の宣伝、プロモーション無しに出た途端にiTunes チャートいきなり 1位。全く事前のプロモーションなしでです。Drakeの人気は凄いですね〜。アルバムの中でもこの曲はクラブ映えします。ビートもしっかりしてるので、女の子達も踊りやすいから人気です。

Drake dropped an unexpected mixtape, If Youre Reading This It’s Too Late with no promotion and it became no. 1 on iTunes chart. It is pretty awesome! People love Drake! “6 Man” is perfect for the club and the beat is nice. Especially girls love this song they can dance to.

2- All Hands On Deck – Tinashe f/ Iggy Azalea

今なかなか人気絶好調な Tinasheちゃん。しかも Iggyがフューチャーリングされてるから、絶対人気でますね。可愛いお姉ちゃん二人のコラボ、特にミュージックビデオ出た時には見たくない人いないですよね！

The song by up and coming Tinashe featuring Iggy is definitely the winner. No one can resist the music video of the collaboration of these 2 pretty girls.

3- Lituation – Fabolous

イントロに Lauryn Hill の名曲 Lost One からの Money change the situation って声がサンプルされてて懐かしい感と渋い感が組み合わさってます。これ、Hip Hop好きのお兄さん達から凄い人気です。この間お兄さんにこの曲をかけてくれってかなりねだられました。渋っていたら 50ドルくれたのでばっちりかけました!!めったにないですが、とってもラッキーでした！

It samples the phrase “it’s funny how money change a situation……” from Lauryn Hill’s classic hit “Lost One”, Fabolous describes the song as “something for the streets” and it quickly became a Hip Hop anthem among brothers in the ‘hoods. Some guy asked me to play this song and when I was hesitated he gave me $50! It’s funny how money changed a situation…..

1 She Wildin’ -Fabolous feat. Chris Brown

最近 QB Finestの Oochie Wallyネタの曲が多いなぁって感じですが、今もう古株となったFabolousが Chris Brownと一緒にやってるなんて、文句無しで絶対良い感じで注目したくなります。ちょっぴりスローですが、Loyalあたりの曲につなげてかけれそうです。Fabolousって良くクラブでも顔を出してますが、全然変わってないです。やっぱり細めの人は老けにくいのかな(笑)

Although many people sample “Oochie Wally” by QB Finest, Nas and Bravehearts, this rendition by now veteran mc Fabolous and Chris Brown is absolutely great! A bit slow but probably it flows nicely if I play it right after “Loyal”. I sometime see Fabolous at clubs and amazingly he hasn’t changed at all. Thin people stay young, I guess.

2 Trap Queen – Fetty Wap

NJ 出身、ラップ&歌っちゃうタイプのニューアーティスト。East Coastぽくない曲なんで意外でした。NJなんでアトランティックシティーのクラブでは結構前から人気の曲です。ビデオも人気が出る前に作ったからかとっても Low Budget の仕上がりでなかなか Hood感が出てます。NJって言っても、とても治安が悪い所あります。カジノのあるACだってカジノ通りからひと筋行くとかなり危ないのでそれが問題になっていたりします。Fetty Wapさん、ちょっとお顔も怖い感じなので、友達がやってるパーティーにゲストで来る事になったんですが、フライヤーには怖すぎて写真載せられなかったらしいです(笑)

Originally from Paterson, NJ Ferry Wap is a type of artist who raps and sings. To my surprise this song doesn’t sound so much East Coast. As a new comer from NJ, Wap has been making noise in Atlantic City area. His video being shot just before he took off is obviously low budget but shows real ‘Hood’. Some neighborhood in NJ, for example just a few blocks away from AC is very dangerous. Fetty Wap was invited to make a guest appearance to my friend’s party but he looks too grimy that they refused to print his picture on the flyer (lol).

3 Monster – Meek Mill

Philly 出身のMeek Millなんで ACのクラブではぜーったいにかけないといけないアーティストです。Phillyからのお客さんも1/3はいるので、Meekのほか、ちょっと古めでは Freewayなんか凄くウケます。この曲はちょうど良い早さだし、クラブで良くかかるようになるでしょう。

It is almost mandatory to play Philly rapper Meek Mill’s songs in the club in AC as 1/3 of the customers are from Philly and Freeway for more mature crowd. “Monster” is perfect tempo for the dance floor.

1 Foreigners – Fabolous feat. Meek Mill & Mike Davis

いきなり始まりがあの有名なIsrael音楽のコーラスをそのままサンプリングしたのから始まる強烈なインパクトのある曲。(Eric B & Rakim のPaid In Full、Public Enemyの”Can’t Truss It”にも使われてたあのOfra Hazaの曲)　それに続くビートはFat Joe のMy Lifestyleをそのまま(厳密にはStatic Timeという曲ですが)使ってしまっています。最初のイントロと噛み合ってるのかどうも分からないけど、とりあえず最初に聞いた時のインパクトは大です。でも、全てをオートチューンを使ったことによってぶち壊したような、残念です。

フィーチャーされているラッパーMeek Mill はPhilly出身。アトランティック・シティーからも近いので、私が週末DJをしている ACのパーティーではMeek Mill の曲を頻繁にリクエストされます。

Opening up with Israeli musician Ofra Haza’s powerful “Im Nin Alu,”(also sampled by Eric B & Rakim’s “Paid In Full” and Public Enemy’s Can’t Truss It”) “Foreigners” sifts into the samples of Fat Joe’s “My Lifestyle” (the original was called “Static Time.”) It has a strong impact at the beginning but I don’t think this flows. Using Auto-tune for the entire track seems to have ruined the effect as well

People request a lot of Meek Mills songs at Province Club in Atlantic City where I dj every weekend as he is from Philadelphia and AC is not far from his hometown.

2. 1UP – Just Blaze

Just Blazeが大好きなTVゲームのサウンドをサンプリングしたTrap曲。

スーパー・マリオの音も出てきます。昔のJust Blazeプロデュースの曲はこういうゲームサウンドが、いい感じに目立ちすぎずサンプルされたヒップホップでかっこよかったなぁ。もう一度かっこいいヒップホップ作って欲しいです。ちなみにJustに会いたい方は、火曜日のトカチューズデーズに来たら会えます。

Just Blaze loves TV game and he samples Super Mario and turned into trap song. He used to make these signature songs with game sound back in the days. Nice.

3. Boss Ass Bitch – PTAF feat. Nicki Minaj

もともとは、もの凄く普通の3人組の黒人おねーちゃんラッパーの曲だったんですが、Nicki Minajがリミックスにはいって一躍有名に。クラブではサビのNicki の部分だけかけてます。「Bitch, bitch……..」て繰り返しているフックがやけに耳に残って離れないです。

PTAF (Pretty Taking All Fades) is a low key black female rap trio until featuring Nicki Minaj for their remix version. Now they are famous! Thanks to Barbz. I play only Nicki’s hooks at the club. She repeats ‘I’m a boss ass bitch,bitch……….’ Now it’s ringing in my ear.
