DJ ヒロの追悼パーティーが12月19日（木）NYのクラブ、「サントス」で行われました。ヒロと親しかった DJ たちがみんな最後にプレイさせて欲しいと申し出たため、ニューヨークのクラブでは異例の8時スタート、多くの仲間たちが集まってくれました。入場料は一人10ドル、チャリティー・イベントなのでゲスト・リストはなしです。

DJ クラーク・ケントが音頭をとり、 DJ ソウル、ストレッチ・アームストロング、ジャスト・ブレイズ、マーク・ロンソン、 DJ スクラッチ、 DJ リズ、 DJ ジューン、 DJ ミホコ、DJ カオリ、など、ヒロの DJ 仲間が結集してまるで同窓会のノリ。ニューヨークのヒップホップが一番熱かった頃の曲がたくさんかかってとても楽しいパーティーになりました。

この日のドアは、私、伊藤弥住子が担当させていただきました。息子の二郎、友人のあずさ、サリー・モーの協力で滞りなく集金できたことをここのご報告致します。合計人数566人、$9200（約92万円）が集まりました。このお金はDJヒロ（本名、伊藤浩）の奥さん、伊藤アシュリーさんに電信送金することになっています。来てくださった方、本当にありがとうございました。

さようなら、DJヒロ Rest in Peace

すでに知っている方も多いかと思いますが、ニューヨーク・ヒップホップ・シーンを盛り上げてきてくれたDJヒロがなくなりました。彼も好きでよくかけていたというこの曲でお別れをつげたいと思います。木曜（12/19）サントス96 Lafayette St, NY 10013にて追悼チャリティー・パーティーを行います。私、DJジューンも回させていただきますのでみなさんご参加下さい。8時より、入場料10ドル（すべてご遺族の方に寄付いたします。）

As many of you may already know our brother DJ Hiro passed away on December 3. I wanted to dedicate this song I heard Hiro used to play at downtown Hip-Hop clubs back in the day. I’m also honored to be a part of DJ Hiro Special Tribute Party at Santos this Thursday. Admission is $10 and DJ Hiro memorial T-shirts will be sold at the venue. All proceed will go to his family. かなりWu Tang サウンド、Method Manのファーストアルバム辺りを意識しためちゃかっこいいヒップホップ。現代と昔のヒップホップのコラボが凄く上手く出来上がった作品。こっちのラジオ Hot 97でもヘビーローテーションです。

Trillmatic reminds me of Wu-Tang sound, specifically Method Man’s first album “Tical.” This is the perfect example of great collaboration with old and new Hip Hop. This song is played on Hot 97 all day long!

3. Street Dreamin’ – Bridget Kelly f/ Kendrick Lamar

どのジャンルのヒップホップを聞く人からも物凄い人気のあるKendrick Lamar。少し前にでた曲ですが、よくリクエストがきます。オールドスクールぽいトラックにノリのいい女性ボーカル、2000年辺りによく定番だった、旬のラッパーをフューチャリングした、いい感じのR&Bという懐かしい気分にさせてくれる曲です。こんなR&Bをもっと作って欲しいです。

Kendrick Lamar is the man of the global Hip-Hop. Not a new song but “Street Dreamin’” is frequently requested by many club goers still now. I love this old school track featuring fresh new comer’s rap and female vocal that was almost a sure shot hit making formula back in 2000.

先週火曜日、 DJ ヒロ（本名：伊藤浩）が他界しました。

1986年に渡米。ずっとニューヨークの街でヒップホップDJ、レコード・バイヤー、ストリート・ファッション・バイヤー、スポーツ・ディレクター、音楽プロデューサーなど多岐にわたる活動をしてきた DJ ヒロはNY日本人コミュニティーの大スターでもありました。

DJ ヒロのお通夜、葬儀がニューヨークでおこなわれますので、お知り合いだった方はぜひご参加ください。

It’s hard to believe it’s been 12 years since Aaliyah passed. She was truly one in a million…….

Aaliyah signed with Jive Records and her uncle Barry Hankerson’s Blackground Records when she was only 12. Hankerson introduced her to R. Kelly, who became her mentor, as well as lead songwriter and producer of her debut album, “Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number.”

After facing allegations of an illegal marriage with R. Kelly, Aaliyah ended her contract with Jive and signed with Atlantic Records.

At the age of 22 in 2001, Aaliyah was on top of the world with Grammy and Oscar nominations already under her belt. The platinum-selling artist and actress had a bright future, but it was to be short lived.

Tragedy struck on August 25, 2001 when, after filming a video in the Bahamas for an album, Aaliyah and various members of her record company attempted to fly to Opa-Locka, Florida aboard a small plane (Cessna 402-B). On that afternoon shortly after takeoff from Marsh Harbor, Abaco Island Bahamas, at 6:50pm, the small light aircraft crashed about 200 feet from the runway killing Aaliyah and everyone aboard. It was later determined that the cause of the crash was due to an overloaded plane.

Her third album posthumously climbed to the #1 position in America, while in the UK “More Than A Woman” reached the top of the singles chart in January 2002.
