The offer applies at Regal Cinemas across the five boroughs, and students must present a school ID, report card, class schedule or other paperwork to get tickets to the movie portraying Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1965 battle for voting rights.
The film chronicles the strategic moves Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (played by English actor David Oyelowo) and his team of lawyers, activists, community leaders and protesters made in order to get the Voting Rights Act of 1965 passed and thus change American history.
New York City students can score free tickets to the Golden Globe-nominated “Selma,” provided they present proof at the box office that they’re in school. The offer, which applies to Regal Cinemas across the five boroughs, requires students show a report card, school ID, classroom schedule or other paperwork. The offer runs through Jan. 19 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day).
ScHoolboy Q’s debut album “Oxymoron” made a big impact in Hip Hop in 2014. Even though the album has the strong East Coast vibe Q is also a member of West Coast hip hop group Black Hippy, alongside his label-mates and fellow California-based rappers Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar.
2. YG – My Krazy Life
今年のM.V.P.
Contrary to rather East sounding ScHoolboy Q, YG’s “My Krazy Life” is 120% down with the West Coast bringing back the sound. Thanks to the great work by this year’s M.V.P. producer DJ Mustard. By the way, you heard these 2 from the better coast are fighting over royalties?
Don’t sleep on the quality album like this which was dropped in the first half of the year that most people tend to forget. “Happy” became a big phenomenon even in the country like Nippon.
4. D’angelo and the Vanguard – Black Messiah
The first album in 14 years by the legendary D’Angelo, “Black Messiah” is absolutely soulful and black. I have been waiting for this!
1. Truffle Butter – Nicki Minaj feat. Drake & Lil Wayne
Here’s Nicki Minaj’s wonderful collaboration with Lil Wayne and Drake entitled “Truffle Butter.” The mic was passed from Drake, Micki and Lil Wayne in a swift and perfect tempo. You would love the vibe for the first listen.
A track with simple piano sample “U Guessed It” is a nice and slow Hip Hop song. It is very slow but it flows smoothly with songs like “CoCo” by O.T. Genasis.
3. Ayo – Chris Brown f/ Tyga
Produced by Nic Nac (who did “Loyal”), the club-friendly R&B song by Chris Brown somewhat sounds like DJ Mustard. CB is still popular and going strong even though after what happened with Rihanna. If that happened in Japan he will never be able to win back the public. Please Chris, keep making great songs!!
