1. Run Ricky Run – Manolo Rose ft. Fame School (Clinton Sparks Remix)

Troy Aveの最近のヒットソング All About The Moneyでフィーチャリングされていた Brookly 出身のラッパー Manoloさん。ミュージックビデオを見たら分かるように、90’sのブラックシネマの代表作 Boyz N The Hoodがフィーチャーされてます(ビデオは現代版 Boyz N Hood)……..懐かしい！あれに出てた人、今じゃみんな大御所の俳優になってて、伝説の映画ですよね…。アメリカ行きに憧れていた頃 何度も何度もみました。題名のRun Ricky…は、映画の中で Ricky が撃たれる場面があったけど、そこから来てるようです。Treの Ricky!!!!って叫ぶ声もサンプルされてます。最初からガンの音も入ってて、かなり渋いやないかい、かっこいいぞ〜。こんなんをもっとNYのラッパーさん達作って欲しいです。西のDJ Mustardサウンドなんてチャラくてうんざりだぜって感じのブルックリンのお兄ちゃん達が 大喜びな一曲。そんな渋渋の音を Clinton Sparkが Trapにリミックスしていて、渋さを残しつつ、EDMとクロスオーバーさせてて 流石です。

You may remember a Brooklyn rapper Manolo Rose for his guest appearance on Troy Ave’s hit song “All About The Money”. Now his “Run Ricky Run’ has a new video and it’s like taking a trip down classic movie memory lane. It will take you back to 1991’s “Boyz N The Hood” John Singleton film that featured Morris Chestnut, Ice Cube and Cuba Gooding Jr. all became the legendary actors today. Wishing to come to America I watched that movie many times. The title Run Ricky…..is referring the character getting shot in the film. The sound bite of Tre screaming “Ricky!!!!” and the gun shot is also heard. Really cool video! Here’s a special trap remix by one and only Clinton Spark.

2. One Wine – Macel Montano & Sean Paul feat. Major Lazer

ソカのシンガー Machel Montanoと Sean Paulのコラボ。ノリのいい 派手な感じのレゲエです。
ヒップホップや R&Bともつなげてかけれる 踊れるトラック！

Trinidadian Soca artist Machel Montano teams up with Dancehall Reggae superstar Sean Paul on “One Wine”.

3. Energy – Drake

話題のニューアルバム “If you are reading this it’s too late” からの一曲。Drakeの人気はまだ落ちてませんね、みんな新しいアルバムに注目してます。中でも今のところ1番人気あるのが ？ この曲じゃないかな。全体的にアルバムはこんなスローテンポな曲が多いです。

“Energy” is a song from Drake’s recently released new album “If you are reading this it’s too late”. He still dominates the chart. The industry experts were predicting that Drake would move nearly half-a-million units of this record by the end of the weekend. “Energy” is most popular one on the album and almost all songs on the album are slow-tempo just like this song.

1. Trouble – Iggy Azalea f/ Jennifer Hudson

Videoがこれから出るみたいなんですが、撮影のひとこまの写真が、Jennifer Hudsonが警官役で Iggyちゃんに手錠かけて連行してる模様。みんなが Blackの女性警官が白人の女性ラッパーを逮捕してるぞ！みたいな見出しをつけてネット上で既に話題になってます。ビデオが楽しみです。曲的にはモータウン的なボーカルにラップが乗っかってる感じの、ノリのいいトラックです。

The shot from the video of a female police officer played by Jennifer Hudson putting a handcuff on Iggy is surfing on the internet. I can’t wait for the video! Over a bouncy piano instrumental, Iggy raps about a bad boy, while J Hud supplies the soulful Motown-like hook.

2. Worth It – Fifth Harmony f/ Kid Ink

新しいアルバムが出たばかりのKid Ink。アルバムの曲は全部同んなじビートに聴こえると なかなかみんなに辛口批評受けてるみたいですが…確かに…全部 DJ Mustardのビートに聴こえるのは確かだ〜。この曲はアルバムからじゃなく、Fifth…って言うガールズグループの曲です。でも 同んなじ感じの曲調ですね。Fifth …はアメリカで人気のオーディション番組 X-Factorで2012年に優勝したグループです。今まであんまりヒットなかったんですが、これはちょっとヒットする予感。

Kid Ink just released his new album “Full Speed” which is criticized that all songs sound the same and I have to admit it is true that they all sound like DJ Mustard’s beats. “Worth It” is actually not from his album but from the Fifth Harmony, a girl group formed on the second season of The X Factor, still sounds just the same. FH has no big hits but this might get them to somewhere.

3. That’s My Sh#t – The Dream f/ T.I.

Dreamって前に R&BシンガーのChristina Milianちゃんと結婚したけど離婚。Christinaちゃんは可愛いけどなかなか曲が売れず、昔の話ですが、所属してたデフジャムも解約され…鳴かず飛ばずだった存在なのに、前にLil Wayneと付き合い始めた？頃から運気上昇で ついに今年自分のリアリティーショーが出て、今なかなかブレーク中。なんで今 Christinaさん！？いやー、人生どうなるか分からないものだなぁと思いました。番組的には カダーシアン姉妹を意識して、3姉妹とそのオカンの毎日みたいなショーで必死で妹さんもスターにしようとこんたんが見えます。ブラックバージョンのキムカダーシアン姉妹か？みたいにみんなも飛びついてるみたいです。ちなみにTV局もカダーシアン一家のショーと同じ局。でもカダーシアン一家は全員すごい存在感なんで、ちょっとあそこまでスーパースターになるのは難しいかもと予測中。曲と全然話それましたが、あしからずです！

The Dream married to R&B singer Christina Milian and divorced her. Christina is really cute and was signed to Def Jam on 2001 then dropped after having no significant hits. Things are started to change when she stared dating with Lil Wayne and now Christina has her own reality TV show “Christina Milian Turned UP”. The series follows the day-to-day lives of Christina, her Mom Carmen and her two sisters, Danielle and Lizzy. Created by the same TV Station the show is very similar to “Keeping Up The Kadarshians” obviously targeting black audience. But I tell you it’s a tough competition as the Kadarshians are the family of the very powerful characters. Oops, sorry not talking about the song.

1. Snap Yo Fingers – Lil Jon

2006年リリースです。私は「Beat Street」と言う、ブルックリンにあったレコード屋の店員時代、真っ盛りの時期でした。これ ぜーったい今でも毎回かける、必須アイテムです。白人も黒人もアジア人も絶対 全員大喜びですね。ありがたい一曲です。Lil Jonは今でも エレクトロの曲で Yeah!!って良いながら、ハイプ役で大人気ですから…息長いですね！Lil Jonさん、DJとしても昔から活躍中。レゲエの大ヒット 必須アイテム、CapletonのTour リミックスがあるんですが(Slick Rickの Children’s Storyネタ) これは昔 Lil Jonがプロデュースしたもの。彼がリミックス作ったの DJでも知らない人いるかもです。

This song was released in 2006 while I was working at Beat Street, the record store in Brooklyn. This is one of my must item records and every time I play white, black Asian and all the people would scream. Lil Jon now makes electro songs and still on the top of the game! He is also a great DJ. Did you know the famous remix of “Tour” sampled Slick Rick’s Children’s Story by Capleton was produced by him? Even some djs don’t.

2.  It’s Goin Down – Yung Joc

こちらも2006年リリース。Snap…と甲乙つけがたいクランクミュージック。2曲絶対からめてかけます。これも大盛り上がり間違いなしの ありがたい曲。あれからヒットなかった Yung Jocさん、今はアメリカのリアリティー・ショー・スターになってます。でも曲は出してるのかも知れないです(笑)

Also released in 2006 and succeeded by “Snap Yo Fingers” Young Joc’s “It’s Goin Down” is the classic crunk music. Playing both songs back to back is the key to success for the dance floor. Just in case if you are wondering what happened to Joc after that one hit, don’t worry. He became a reality TV show star!

3. Ignition – R. Kelly

2003年にシングルリリースされた、もうかなり前のR. Kellyのヒット曲のひとつ。私的にはR. Kellyと言えば 1st や 2nd アルバムあたり、Bump N Grind や You Remind Me of Something…の初期の頃、そして 2002年の 同曲含む アルバム Chocolate Factory からは Step In The Name Of Love  (<– 黒人さん達がこれかけたら絶対おどってくれる)なんかが代表作って気がするんですが、なぜか 今も白人の若いお姉ちゃんたちから、しかも ダンスミュージックもかかるパーティーでリクエスト多いのが…Ignition!! なぜなのか分からないです。ヒットしたしいい曲ですが、てっきり Twerkとか Calvin Harrisとかかけて！って言ってくるのかなって構えてたら、いきなり、これを良くリクエストされる。なぜそのような若い白人のお姉ちゃん達が この曲をリクエストしてくるのかが 私にとって七不思議の一つ。バウンス系なら Jay Z – Big Pimpinとかあるのに、なんでいきなりこれなのか。しかもR. Kelly。解明したい謎です。

When you think of R. Kelly most of people think about his early hits like “Bump N Grind” from his first album, “You Remind Me of Something” from his second, or a big dance number “Step in the Name of Love” from Chocolate Factory album, but some reason young white girls on the dance floor want to hear “Ignition” from the same Chocolate Factory album. Why? I’m not saying it’s not a good song, actually it’s a great song, but why? To me it’s one of the Seven Wonders. You can dance to twerk or Calvin Harris or if you want something bouncy Jay-Z’s “Big Pimpin” might be your choice. Why young white chicks request “Ignition” by R. Kelly? Somebody please tell me.

1 She Wildin’ -Fabolous feat. Chris Brown

最近 QB Finestの Oochie Wallyネタの曲が多いなぁって感じですが、今もう古株となったFabolousが Chris Brownと一緒にやってるなんて、文句無しで絶対良い感じで注目したくなります。ちょっぴりスローですが、Loyalあたりの曲につなげてかけれそうです。Fabolousって良くクラブでも顔を出してますが、全然変わってないです。やっぱり細めの人は 老けにくいのかな(笑)

Although many people sample “Oochie Wally” by QB Finest, Nas and Bravehearts, this rendition by now veteran mc Fabolous and Chris Brown is absolutely great! A bit slow but probably it flows nicely if I play it right after “Loyal”. I sometime see Fabolous at clubs and amazingly he hasn’t changed at all. Thin people stay young, I guess.

2 Trap Queen – Fetty Wap

NJ 出身、ラップ&歌っちゃうタイプのニュー アーティスト。East Coastぽくない曲なんで意外でした。NJなんでアトランティック シティーのクラブでは結構前から 人気の曲です。 ビデオも人気が出る前に作ったからかとっても Low Budget の仕上がりで なかなか Hood感が出てます。NJって言っても、とても治安が悪い所あります。カジノのあるACだって カジノ通りからひと筋行くと かなり危ないのでそれが問題になっていたりします。Fetty Wapさん、ちょっとお顔も怖い感じなので、友達がやってるパーティーにゲストで来る事になったんですが、フライヤーには怖すぎて 写真載せられなかったらしいです(笑)

Originally from Paterson, NJ Ferry Wap is a type of artist who raps and sings. To my surprise this song doesn’t sound so much East Coast. As a new comer from NJ, Wap has been making noise in Atlantic City area. His video being shot just before he took off is obviously low budget but shows real ‘Hood’. Some neighborhood in NJ, for example just a few blocks away from AC is very dangerous. Fetty Wap was invited to make a guest appearance to my friend’s party but he looks too grimy that they refused to print his picture on the flyer (lol).

3  Monster – Meek Mill

Philly 出身のMeek Millなんで ACのクラブではぜーったいにかけないといけないアーティストです。Phillyからのお客さんも1/3はいるので、Meekのほか、ちょっと古めでは Freewayなんか 凄くウケます。この曲はちょうど良い早さだし、クラブで良くかかるようになるでしょう。

It is almost mandatory to play Philly rapper Meek Mill’s songs in the club in AC as 1/3 of the customers are from Philly and Freeway for more mature crowd. “Monster” is perfect tempo for the dance floor.
