D’Angelo’s Back!!
ディアンジェロが正式（?）カムバック!!
ここ数年、’ディアンジェロが新しいアルバム制作に取り組んでいてリリース間近!’説が流れてはまた消えて…….というのを繰り返し、まさに「オオカミ少年」状態でしたが、今回のカムバック説はわりと信憑性があるようです。
すでに7月の独立記念日イベントのひとつ、「エッセンス・ミュージック・フェスティヴァル」にも参加することが決定していましたが、本日、ジェイZがまとめ役を務める9月に開催されるフィラデルフィアの「Made In America Festival」にも出演するという発表がありました。いずれも大スターが勢揃いする音楽の祭典です。カムバックするのにはぴったりな条件だと思います。

ニューオリンズで7月5日から4日間（3日間だったのが好評につき4日間に延長）にわたって開催される黒人向け雑誌「エッセンス」主催のコンサート・シリーズは当然のことながらR＆B/ヒップホップが中心。出演は以下。

これだけでも豪華なラインナップですが、このメイン・ステージ以外のミニ・ステージでも様々なアーティストやコメディアンのショーが楽しめる、超デリシャスなイベントです。
Made In America Festival @ Fairmount Park in Philadelphia
ジェイZが音頭をとって行われるこのイベント、2005年に開催された「ライヴ8」のようなもの……らしいです。このコンサートは9月1日と2日の2日間、レイバー・デーの週末に予定されています。ディアンジェロのほか、パールジャム、Odd Future など、様々なジャンルのミュージシャンが出演するようです。

これだけディアンジェロ・カムバックを煽っているということは、あの幻のニュー・アルバム「James River （仮タイトル）」がとうとうリリースされるのでしょうか。真相はいかに……..。
情報不足だった矢先、6月号のGQマガジンにディアンジェロの独占インタビュー掲載! ディアンジェロの過去の薬物/アルコール中毒や交通事故、みごとな裸体をさらしたショッキングなビデオ、”Untitled (How Does It Feel)”ができるまでの秘話、ベイビー・ママ、アンジー・ストーンや音楽仲間のクエスト・ラヴのコメントなどで構成されています。実際のアルバム内容については触れていませんが、レーベル（RCA）としては年内に出せればラッキー!という感じのようです。興味のある方はこちらで読んでみて下さい。

ニューヨークでもディアンジェロ・カムバックのニュースは話題沸騰、地元のR＆Bラジオ・ステーション、WBLSでもさっそくディアンジェロ・インタビューを企画しネット上で大々的な宣伝広告を掲載しました。WBLSの朝のヒット番組、コメディアンのスティーヴ・ハーヴィー・ショー（月から金6- 10am）に出演するというのです。事前に、「朝8時29分」に本人が登場するというインサイド情報を入手、その日の朝、いつもより早起きして7時から番組にチューン・イン、その感動の瞬間を待っていました。8時を過ぎてもゲストの告知はありません。Brown Sugar やDevil’s Pie の曲もかかりません。普通ならその日のゲストをアナウンスするはずなのに……。この日のテーマはディアンジェロと全く関係のない、「地元のネイル・サロン自慢大会」で、29分を過ぎてもネイル・サロン自慢が続きます……..。結局、マイケル‘ディアンジェロ’アーチャーの元気な声を聞くことはできませんでした。スティーヴ・ハーヴィー・ショーはニューヨークでも人気がありますが、実際にはスティーヴの住んでいるアトランタで収録しています。ディアンジェロは電話で取材に応じる予定でした。時間通りに電話もかけることができない状態だったらカムバックなんてできるのかしら……..。というわけで私はちょっと心配しています。取り越し苦労だといいのですが…..。

D’Angelo is Back!!
It’s been a minute since D’Angelo has been on the scene…. But it looks like the “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” singer is on the verge of a comeback!
D’Angelo is finally plotting his return to the stage with his first U.S. concert in over a decade at the 2012 Essence Music Festival. Organizers announced today that the traditionally held three-day festival is now expanding to four days, kicking off Thursday, July 5.

Featuring a roster of new millennium generation artists in the music scene, the performers will include recording artist and hip-hop royalty Diggy Simmons, R&B pop group The OMG Girlz and New Orleans’ marching band The Roots of Music. These bright young stars will share the spotlight with some of the world’s top performers in music and entertainment such as Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, D’Angelo, Charlie Wilson, Kevin Hart, Steve Harvey, Trey Songz and more during the 18th annual ESSENCE Music Festival that will now take place July 5-8.

Made in America festival’s lineup has been announced, also today with legendary rock group Pearl Jam leading the pack at Jay-Z’s Philadelphia extravaganza. R&B legend D’Angelo is the big surprise name on the bill; the singer will likely be unveiling new material in addition to his standout classics.
D’Angelo gives his first interview in 12 years to the June issue of GQ Magazine about what he’s been up to in his time off from music, why he left the industry without warning over 10 years ago, his run-ins with the law, his struggles with substance abuse and more.
