D’Angelo to Headline the Apollo Theater in Harlem

After a 15-year hiatus, D’Angelo is officially back — and he’s better than ever.

D’Angelo played a sold out concert on Saturday night (Feb. 7) at the legendary Apollo Theater. It was the very first date of his “Second Coming” tour (which kicks off a European run on Thursday before coming back to the States in March) in support of his latest release, ‘Black Messiah.’ The venue is so small that it only accommodates 1,500 people but one of the city’s most intimate and sonically satisfying theaters. D’Angelo announces The Second Coming Tour

D’Angelo and the Vanguard will spotlight their Black Messiah in greater detail when they perform at Harlem’s Apollo Theater on February 7th, their only U.S. date before embarking on a month-long trek of Europe.

Immediately following the Apollo gig, D’Angelo will head to Europe for “Second Coming Tour” centers mostly around shows in Germany, with additional dates scheduled in the UK, Sweden, and Switzerland.　According to a press release, the shows will see D’Angelo and his band The Vanguard “combine many popular hits with new songs and fresh interpretations of covers.”
