What Is Harlem Week?

HARLEM WEEK promotes and celebrates the past, present, and future of Harlem! HARLEM WEEK is a series of Harlem events throughout the summer, that bring together all age groups and cultures to celebrate the unique and diverse essence of Harlem. This Harlem Festival & Celebration offers over 100 events throughout the months of July and August, attracting over 2 million attendees from all around the world to Harlem New York. Featuring: Outdoor and indoor music concerts, The Upper Manhattan Auto Show, Film festivals, Health Fair & 5K, Sporting events, Adult and children’s fashion shows, Youth programs and activities, Career fairs, HBCU Fair & Expo.

“A Great Day in Harlem”

With an expected attendance of 40,000+ , “A Great Day in Harlem” is a day long family-oriented event.  Participants can enjoy an Outdoor Festival, Picnic, Fashion Show and Concerts, saluting Gospel, Dance, Theater, Latin, Rhythm & Blues and Jazz.  There will also be arts & crafts, food from around the world, vendors, exhibitions, corporate exhibits, career recruitment and much more!  Check out all of the “Great Day in Harlem” events below:

On Sunday, August 18th, it’s “Harlem Day”! Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington. They’ll be live entertainment, an auto show, exhibits and vendors all day long! Catch a “Health Village” filled with information on keeping you healthy, a small business expo & fair plus a special celebration of the music of Motown.

All weekend long enjoy a free children’s festival with games, music, exhibits and so much more it’s all free and right in the heart of Harlem on West 135th Street, Saturday, August 17th and Sunday, August 18th get there early!

The concert, which will be free to fans but requires each attendee to have a ticket, will take place on the iconic Great Lawn at Central Park on July 13th beginning at 7:30PM.

The New York Philharmonic, which will be led by Music Director Alan Gilbert, will perform two sets of New York and baseball-themed music, including Randy Newman’s Suite from The Natural and the world premiere of Mark Isham’s Suite from 42. Special guest Mariah Carey will join the New York Philharmonic to perform a select number of her all time classic hits mixed with tracks off of her new album.

Fans can obtain free General Admission tickets at AllStarGame.com/Concert beginning June 26th at 10:00AMEastern. All visitors will be screened at security checkpoints before entering the Concert grounds. Fans that have tickets can enter on Central Park West & West 72nd street (Western General Admission) or 5th Avenue and East 72nd street (Eastern General Admission). Credentialed media can enter at 5th Avenue and East 84th street. Gates open at 3:00PM. No backpacks, alcohol, glass or metal containers, pets or blankets are permitted. A full list of prohibited and acceptable items is available at AllStarGame.com/Concert.
