グラミー賞ノミネート歌手、レディシィがニュー・アルバム「ザ・トゥルース」をリリースし現在全米ツアー中。30箇所予定されているツアーのうちニューヨーク公演は一回のみ、「ハーレム2ニッポン」のアドバイザー、ケン・シモンズのWBLSコネクションのおかげで幸運にも彼女のライヴを観ることができたのでレポートいたします。春だというのにまだ肌寒く、あいにくの土砂降りでしたが、15年のキャリアを誇るベテラン・アーティストのレディシィ、期待以上のライヴ・パフォーマンスを披露してくれました。

Ledisi Правда концерт в Нью-Йорке
With the recent release of her seventh album, The Truth, Ledisi is currently hitting the road on her 30-city-tour. She was scheduled to perform at the Beacon Theatre in New York on Wednesday evening. Harlem2nippon’s adviser, Ken Simmons got a pair of comp tickets through his WBLS connection and we went to see her show. It was chilly and raining hard that night but I knew it would be worth it, and I was right.

Paul Robeson Jr.
市民権運動家、著者として活躍したポール・ローブソン・ジュニアが先週の土曜日に逝去しました。86歳でした。
実はポール・ローブソン・ジュニアを語る時に欠かせないのは彼のお父さん、市民権運動の指導者として黒人たちの人権擁護のために果敢に闘った偉大な運動家であり、俳優、歌手でもあったポール・ローブソン・シニアです。なぜなら息子のポール・ジュニアは、お父さんの功績を次の世代へ伝えるために、生涯を捧げたと言ってもいいくらいだからです。

Paul Robeson Jr., who worked to preserve the legacy of his father, the actor, singer and civil rights advocate, since his death almost four decades ago, died on Saturday in Jersey City. He was 86.
Mr. Robeson was born on Nov. 2, 1927, in Brooklyn, the only child of Paul and Eslanda Robeson. As a boy, he traveled with his parents to Europe and lived with his grandmother in Moscow, where he became fluent in Russian and attended the same public school as Joseph Stalin’s daughter.
