覚えていますか、マックスウェルの「Now」アルバム？’Lifetime’ ‘Get to Know Ya’ ケート・ブッシュのカバー曲、‘This Woman’s Work’といったヒット曲入りのあのアルバムです。

マッ クスウェルがパフォーマーとしてみごとに開花した全盛期の2001年、「 Now」アルバムのプロモーションを兼ねた「Now Tour」がニューヨーク他14都市、25公演が開催されました。まだデビューしたてのアリシア・キーズを前座に迎え、ソールドアウトの大盛況。ディアン ジェロ、エリカ・バドゥなどネオ・ソウル・ブームが炸裂、音楽業界がとても生き生きとしていました。

当時、一番注目されていたアーティストだっただけに、オーディエンスも華やかです。同じコロムビア・レコーズ所属のヒップホップ・アーティスト、ワイクリ フ・ジョンやナズがガールフレンド同伴で観に来ているかと思えば、まだ健在だったニック・アッシュフォード(Ashford & Simpson)やアイザック・ヘイズなど、ミュージシャンたちも姿を見せ、あちこちで歓声があがり、ステージより客席のほうが盛り上がってしまうという 一幕もありました。

Maxwell – Now Tour 2001

Now is Maxwell’s third studio album released August 14, 2001 on Columbia Records, which includes the epic love ballad “Lifetime,” a version of Kate Bush’s “This Woman’s Work,” and the upbeat encore “Get To Know Ya.”
The Now Tour is a tour by his second headlining tour in support of his multi-platinum selling album Now. The tour started in North America on August 13, in New York City at the Irving Plaza with additional dates through October. The itinerary includes multiple dates in Washington D.C., Atlanta and Chicago.
Maxwell performed seven concert dates in New York City between August 13 through the 25, with J Records new artist Alicia Keys as supporting act.
