ブルース・スプリングスティーン、ボン・ジョヴィ、ローリング・ストーンズ、エリック・クラプトン、ザ・フー、ビリー・ジョエル、ポール・マッカートニーなど国宝級スーパースターが大集合した歴史的イベント、ハリケーン救済コンサート＆テレソン「121212コンサート」は１２月１２日マジソン・スクエア・ガーデンでおよそ６時間に渡って行われました。チケットの売り上げだけでも３０億円を集めたそう。カニエ・ウェストと共にアーバン系若手アーティスト代表で出演したアリシア・キーズは今回は弾き語りで登場。今やニューヨークシティのアンセムになっている「エンパイア・ステート・マインド」を自身のセットでは歌わず???だったが、なんとポール・マッカートニーがトリをつとめた後に大トリとして再び登場、ステージを埋めた消防士や救助隊員らの横で、堂々と「エンパイア・ステート・マインド」を歌い上げコンサートをしめくくりました。
It was a night of music history as some of the biggest names in rock joined forces for one incredible concert. Legends Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, The Who, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel and many others performed at New York’s Madison Square Garden last night to help benefit the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Among them, Alicia Keys was one of a few urban artists alongside Kanye West and only female act. She came on stage after the Rolling Stones and finished her solo set without singing her beloved New York anthem, “Empire State Mind”. But much later, after the night’s final act Paul McCartney left the stage, she came back to close out the entire show by singing the song. We are proud of you Alicia!
