ハーレムがこのところ非常に活気づいています。「レッド・ルースター」「シェ・ルシエン」といったお洒落でグルメなレストランの激戦区、レノックス・アベニューに新たに本格的なバー/レストランが出現しました。しばらく工事中だったので近所の人たちから「何ができるんだろう？」と注目されていましたが、「レノックス・ソーシャル」という名前で3月17日、とうとう開店しました。まだキッチンのほうの準備が整っていないらしく、「ソフト・オープン」ということでメニューはバーガー、春巻き、ちょっとしたフライものしかありませんが、飲み物は充実しています。生ビール、瓶ビール、ワイン、カクテルが豊富に揃っています。ローカル・バーと違ってメトロポリタンな雰囲気なので女性一人でも安心して入れます。「こんなバーが欲しかった！」と地元の人たちは大喜び。

最近の流行、お客さん同士で仲良くなれるように大きなテーブルをシェアするスタイルを取り入れていていい感じ。なるほど、ソーシャルということですね……..。Sugar Hill Beer 6ドルというのを試してみました。その名が示すように、ハーレムのシュガー・ヒル地区で醸造しているそうです。日本のサッポロやアサヒといったラガー系と違い、オレンジがかった黄金色のエールです。かなり甘いです。ふだんは決してお酒を残さない私ですが最後まで飲めませんでした。次回は違うビールを試してみます。トレンディなお店なのにお値段が手頃（ドリンク$5~$10）なのが嬉しい。

Finally a place in the neighborhood that is a true bar, fun and casual.
Couldn’t be happier that “Lenox Social is here!!” This is the kind of place that Harlem really needed.
There’s mostly an extensive drink list available currently (all moderately priced) but the grand opening is in April so at the moment only a small array of appetizers on the menu.
I tried a beer called Sugar Hill($6), a reference to the neighborhood’s most famous district, where figures as diverse as Duke Ellington, Ralph Ellison and Adam Clayton Powell Sr. lived. It’s very sweet with pale and toasted malts, citrus, floral hops, and bitter dry finish. It was too sweet to my taste.
The place is honestly very nice laid back and cool vibe of a crowd. A perfect place to chill with a wide variety of beers!
